Thanks for taking the time to join us on a Saturday!
mrutkowski
37:35
Tell us why you chose to live (NEAS study area) where you live?
Debbie Nosse
39:06
Bought 6 ac in NE wake co (Rolesville) and chose it because of it being within commuting time to NC State yet being in the country.
odumc
39:10
would you like CAMPO staff to sit out of these polls?
Timothy Tresohlavy
39:34
ok to answer!
Scott Brame
42:13
Halfway between hometown (Henderson) and work (N. Raleigh). Far enough out of Raleigh to have a decent amount of land.
mrutkowski
45:17
Scott, I'm not too far away from Henderson as we speak
Scott Lane
55:16
Potentially some post-COVID-19 impetus for this city-flight to occur....maybe.
Scott Lane
01:03:03
The North East Area is pretty big, but how big? Guess the number of NC counties (out of 100) that are SMALLER than NEAS.....
Timothy Tresohlavy
01:03:54
50 counties smaller than NEAS?
Shelby Powell
01:04:17
12
Scott Lane
01:04:19
Average commute time in Wake County is 25 minutes; in Franklin County its 33 minutes.
odumc
01:05:48
on last question - time in congestion is different from overall commute time
Scott Lane
01:08:05
I think part of my answer to this one might depend on how much I think funding streams are going to rebound from COVID-19 and other impacts.
Scott Lane
01:11:49
There's another path that emphasizes technology-based solutions to congestion as well....including keeping telework as a strong option.
Amanda Morrell
01:21:57
Smart gentlemen
Shelby Powell
01:29:16
I think this depends on how much more transit service is offered in the future.
Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:36:33
Also think we need to do more to educate folks about what is available and how to get to it
Shelby Powell
01:37:37
I'd be curious to know what people mean by "better access" to transit - do they mean better park&ride lots or more bike paths to the existing transit lines, or do they mean having more transit services available to access?
mrutkowski
01:38:07
Or quick access
odumc
01:38:24
Also, Post COVID ridership and trust must be rebuilt
Ian Varley
01:40:59
Nobody must have young children! Outdoor water features are so fun!
Timothy Tresohlavy

Slides!
Ian Varley
01:44:59
How might COVID19 change people's preference in terms of homes?
Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:45:24
Granny flat versus garage apartment was new to my family.
mrutkowski
01:46:13
Ha
Timothy Tresohlavy
01:47:21
Ian: I'm thinking that access to trails/open space are becoming more popular as a result; also reflected in our voting today!
Ian Varley
01:48:26
Indeed! That would be fun to develop in a land use scenario!
Joseph
01:48:32
Knightdale is pushing apartments
Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:50:41
Definitely like the multifamily housing, want it incorporated into mixed neighborhoods instead of separate.
Ian Varley
01:52:53
Great point Bonnie! Often we find that people prefer smaller multifamily (duplexes, townhomes, cottage courts) are more popular because they seem less imposing and fit better into the context of neighborhoods.
Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:54:57
Love the idea of converting some of the big houses in our neighborhood, as people move away from wanting so much square footage, into quadplexes.
mrutkowski
01:56:05
Yes. Totally agree. Repurposing can go beyond roadways
Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:57:11
Thank you project team!
Shelby Powell
01:57:32
Thanks all, this was great!
Scott Brame

Bonnie Parker, CAMPO
01:59:37
Yes, I really want my kids near me when they get older in those multifamily units, and my mom to live with me without needing to drive. need those ADUs and some density

Bonnie Parker, CAMPO

Great meeting, thanks again. I need to hop off but wanted to hear if Scott or Odum (Crystal) were waiting to say something?
